Ladurée
Ladurée is a luxury cakes and pastries brand founded in Paris n 1862. At first a bakery at 16 rue Royale, Ladurée was transformed into a pastry shop because of the 1871 fire. Jules Chéret a renowned painter of the end of the XIXth century was entrusted with the interior decoration. The chubby cherubs dressed as pastry cooks, painted by him on the ceiling, form the company's emblem. The interior of the premises were painted in the same celadon colour as the façade. During the Second Empire, the Parisians start to go out, the women want to enjoy meeting but the literary circles and salons are not in vogue any more. Ladurée has an idea to mix the styles : a traditional parisian cafe and a pastry shop. Thus one of the first tearooms in Paris was launched. In September 1997 a second store is opened at 75 Champs-Élysées avenue, followed by a third one Bonaparte street. The macarons from Ladurée acquired international reputation and the cooking method has not been changed since the beginning of the XXth century. For every season Ladurée creates new flavors, such as macarons with caramel, lime and basil, or lily-of-the-valley for May 1st.
